USA Blinked: the Worst May Be Over.

January 9th, 202.

The US President has just delivered a statement on the Iranian attack on the US bases in Iraq. To cut to the chase-the US is not going to respond in any substantial way to the attacks. The President seemed completely spooked, haunted and sad.

Can’t say I am a fan but I feel a deep sense of gratitude to the man at this moment. Throughout the speech, Trump repeated the usual laundry list of highly selective and dishonest talking points vis a vis Iran and Qassem Solimani, but the bottom line is that an almost unimaginable calamity may have been avoided.

Hundreds of thousands of people were poised for sudden violent deaths, and now they are not. At least not right now.

Hopefully at some point what has taken place behind the scenes will emerge but something big has happened. Perhaps Russia said something, perhaps the US military said something, perhaps the polling data said something, possibly even Israel said something but either way a radical change has taken place in a very short amount of time.

It is worth noting that the President was originally scheduled to make a statement the previous night and that event was cancelled. There are rumours that USAF jets departed for an attack but were then turned around.

That is completely unconfirmed but this speech, it was like watching a completely different person, all of the swagger, all of the bluster was gone, he seemed a broken man to be honest and I don’t say that with any spite.

However, as long as the US seeks to maintain a military presence in Iraq and Syria, there will be problems.

As long as the US thinks it has the right (or obligation) to march around the world removing “disobedient” governments, there will be problems.

As long as the US looks upon the people of the developing nations as natives to be suppressed by any means, there will be problems.

As long as the US sees the security of Israel as a higher priority than the well being of the people of the US, there will be problems.

Nonetheless, this was the calamitous moment, this was the time of opportunity, the propaganda was flowing freely.

The time was right.

Thanks go to Tucker and Tulsi and the very few prominent Americans who showed some spine in recent days. Your courage should never be forgotten. You are the real patriots.
