The Syrian Army have continued achieving limited and small scale improvements in their position across Syria.
ISIL in Palmyra, central Syria appear to be coming under severe pressure.

Russian strikes for terrorists isis in Palmyra
Following the “go along to get along” decision by Russia to blame ISIL for destroying the Metrojet Flight 9268 over the Sinai peninsula Russia announced that it’s fleet of aircraft operating in Syria is set to increase by an extra 37 from the current size of fifty.
Russias actions on this matter and the earlier MH17 disaster should end any illusion of Russia being anything other than a self-interested completely dishonest power that stages minor truth incursions from time to time for tactical effect.
Russia then launched a new series of “demonstration” operations, using long range strategic bombers flown from Southern Russia to target ISIL and firing cruise missiles that were photographed as they flew over Syria towards their target in Raqqa.
RAW: Moment Russian cruise missile flies by targeting ISIS in Syria
The Russian president cleverly subverted the French move to send the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to Syria and capitalised to a degree on the tribal mindset imposed by the trauma of the Paris tragedy by making it publicly known that Russian forces were being instructed to co-operate with the French Navy and Air Force.
The way the announcement was managed and the timing mean it is now all but impossible for France to openly act against the Russian operation in any way.
France started bombing ISIL in Syria months ago so the statement from the French president Hollande that “We are at war” following the Paris attacks was completely ridiculous.
They had already been at war with ISIL in Syria.
So it seems as though the silly Zio fantasy speech from the first episode of this seasons Homeland may come true.
Homeland — Quinn tells it like it is
The speech is prime cut pure garbage. Asked about Syria the fictional CIA killer states that the US should either send 200, 000 troops to permanently occupy the Muddle East, accompanied, most laughably by “school teachers and medics” otherwise they should bomb Raqqa and kill everyone who lives there.
The lies are a constant feature of modern life in the West but the volume and intensity are at the highest level that I have witnessed.
So, publicly at least, the West and Russia are going to be one big happy gang of bombers and they will flatten Raqqa and this will probably achieve very little.
The idea that all the people living in Raqqa are committed jihadists hellbent on the destruction of the West and a new Islamic conquest is just another infantile Zionist fantasy.
The people who live there are just people from a Sunni Arab background the same as the people left in Mosul.
It is telling that Mosul is barely mentioned when the discussion of the ISIL capital arises.
This is because Mosul is not in Syria, and Iraq having already been destroyed is no longer a priority target so the fact that Mosul is a city at least four times the size of Raqqa and ISIL are more powerful in Iraq than Syria is on the lengthy “mot for mention” list.
ISIL will presumably be defeated in the coming months but ISIL are simply the favoured “demon brand” of the moment.
The only real difference between ISIL and the al Nusra front is tactical, the al Nusra Front also believe in building a Caliphate (not that ISIL are really building a Caliphate but this is the crap they tell the fools who believe in their movement) the only difference is that al Nusra believe that the caliphate cannot be built until the jihadists win the war in Syria.
So these people are still going to be in Syria and Iraq, heavily armed and in numbers even if every ISIL member were to be killed.
Equally, the sponsors of the War on Terror will simply find another group of salafists to be their new “demon brand” just as ISIL replaced al Qaeda.
Since the middle of this week the air force of the Russian Federation have conducted dozens of air strikes in Syria amid intense hypocrisy from the criminals who have supported the terrorists who have spent the past four years destroying Syria as per Israel’s wishes.
Al Qaeda are now being characterised as a “moderate opposition” group whom the Russians are to be condemned for attacking in some of the most stunning and nauseating hypocrisy ever witnessed on this increasingly foul and despoiled planet.
These same professional liars are still trying to blame al Qaeda for the atrocities in New York on September 11th, 2001 whilst supporting them as an arm of the covert operations wing of the CIA.
It really shows how far gone the West is that they would have the temerity to publicly complain that someone was blowing up their pet al Qaeda terrorists and literally not one member of the official media has a single critical word to say on the matter.
Until the Russian Air strikes are combined with a large scale ground offensive, the scale of their operation and it’s ambition will become clear.
There are reports of a massive combined Iranian-Hezbollah-Syrian operation on the ground, these reports may be hype.
After several days several things stand out.
It seems from the focus of the Russian attacks that Idlib, Aleppo, Hama and Homs are going to be the first priority.
The assessment from Andrey Fomin at Voltaire Net makes sense
“The military disposition in Syria is crystal clear. Primarily, blockade of the cities of Homs and Hama should be lifted and direct land route from Damascus to the Turkish border to be put under control of pro-government forces. The first strikes of the Russian AF were dispatched precisely in that direction.”
and more broadly.
“The counter-offensive near Hama will very quickly make it possible to figure out whether the plans to drive Jabhat Al-Nusra into the desert are workable. That might not be consistent with the stated goal of battling Daesh, but in the field everyone understands that it is not possible to expel Islamists into the desert without lifting the blockades on the currently fortified regions. They have been —and remain— prime targets of the Russian air wings.”
and on the real motivation for the Western response to the Russian entrance into the Syria war, a dream that has cost billions of dollars has just died.
American and Saudi concerns have certainly nothing to do with the alleged civilian deaths from air strikes. The fact is that the billions spent by the royal family of Saudi Arabia, the CIA, and other agents in their attempts to oust Bashar al-Assad have literally been tossed away into the sand.”
Looking at maps of the areas of control it is striking that the Syrian state has lost a lot of territory in the North since the start of this year. In the East, there is a single Syrian government position at Deir az Zour military airport whilst in the West Hezbollah have been achieving all the objectives they have been given for several years and almost completely evicted the rebels from the West of Syria near the Lebanon border. The south has remained relatively static by comparison.
One very noticeable aspect of the Russian air operations is that they have not attacked anywhere in southern Syria at all. This may be due to their priorities being focused on the area around the Mediterranean coast or it may be part of a desire to avoid confrontation with Israel at all costs.
Underground command posts destroyed.
The most interesting of the Russian strikes were the attacks that targeted underground rebel facilities. Several sites appear to have been targeted with bunker busting bombs.
It has been claimed that military officers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey were killed in one of these attacks on an underground base although these claims will probably never be verified.
The presence of foreign military forces within the Syrian insurgency appears to have been severely under-reported.
In mid 2012 the Beirut Daily Star, a large mainstream paper that takes an anti-Assad stance reported that thirteen French officers had been captured in Syria. The Daily Star website then became completely inaccessible for many hours and when it returned to the internet the story had been scrubbed and was never mentioned anywhere again.

Closer look at Russian fighter jets bombing ISIS (EXCLUSIVE)
“Ivanov (Senior Russian Official) stressed that no ground operations are planned in Syria. Russia would use its warplanes to hit terrorist targets when requested by the Syrian government. He stressed that unlike the US-led coalition of countries that bombs militant troops in Syria, Russia was invited to do so by the legal authorities of Syria and thus follows international law.
“The military goal of the operation is strictly to provide air support for the [Syrian] government forces in their fight against Islamic State,” he said.
This was presumably the subject of the Obama Putin meeting at the UN and the previous military contacts between the US and Russia.
“The upper chamber of the Russian parliament has unanimously given a formal consent to President Putin to use the nation’s military in Syria to fight terrorism at a request from the Syrian President Bashar Assad.
“Consent was necessary for use of the country’s military for foreign combat missions under the Russian constitution.”
The request for use of force was sent by the president after considering the large number of citizens of Russia and neighboring countries, who went to join terrorist groups fighting in Syria, head of the presidential administration Sergey Ivanov told media. There are thousands of them, and Russia’s national security would be under threat, should they return home, he added.”
The year-long campaign of air strikes in Syria conducted by western powers have been highly ineffective.
There appear to be two reasons for this. One reason is that the efforts have been half-hearted and intermittent, with frequent apparent stand downs taking place.
The only parts of the US led campaign that have succeeded have been those in support of Kurdish YPG fighters in Northern Syria.
The Russian Air Force strikes are likely to be more effective because they are going to act in support of the ground forces of the Syrian Army. The unwillingness to offer direct support to Syrian Government ground forces meant that the Western campaign could only ever be ineffective and half-hearted and this may be the key difference that sees the Russian air strikes make a decisive difference on the Syrian battlefield.
The Northern Syrian No Fly Zone Project is Dead.
The most obvious and tangible result of what is now an undeniable Russian military operation in excess of the previous support for Syria and one obvious tangible result of this is that the Turkish plan to defacto seize a swathe of Syrian territory under the guise of imposing a “safe zone” is dead.
The long envisaged plot to impose a No-Fly zone on Northern Syria, actually announced by Turkey in late July as part of the deal to allow the US to use the Incirlik Air Base for operations against the IS.but never fully embraced by the US is now gone.
“Erdoğan did not simply roll over. He had his own tally of requirements when Obama called. Top of his list is the establishment of a designated buffer zone inside Syria – effectively a de facto no-fly zone protected by coalition and Turkish forces – which would provide a safe haven for refugees and deny crucial territory to the Syrian Kurds. Turkish reports suggest the US has quietly agreed to this, although no official announcement has been made.”
The fool Erdogan is never going to get his stealth annexation Northern safe zone.Instead he is stuck with a new Civil war against the PKK in South Eastern Turkey that has seen hundreds of Iraqi and Turkish Kurds slain in air strikes and hundreds of Turkish security forces slain along with dozens of civilians in retaliatory guerrilla attacks.
“Evidence collected by Amnesty International in a fact-finding mission indicates that multiple Turkish government airstrikes killed eight residents and injured at least eight others – including a child – in a flagrantly unlawful attack on the village of Zergele, in the Kandil Mountains in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The airstrikes on 1 August were part of a military campaign launched by Turkey against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) but according to information gathered by Amnesty International these residents were not affiliated with the PKK. The organization is calling on the Turkish government to launch an independent, impartial and effective investigation into the airstrikes and to publicly release the findings of their investigation.
Plots that have been years in the making and involved literally millions of lies and multiple false flag terror attacks
The operations that are described are air attacks in response to shellfire directed against Russian positions in Latakia.
“All of the ultra-sophisticated equipment is operated by the Russians, like flying the drones. They’re the ones who train the Syrian pilots, and they’re in command,” says a Syrian military expert on condition of anonymity.
When rockets crashed into the airport this week, Russian forces detected the firing location and jets flew off towards rebel-held territory to “neutralize the threat“, the expert adds.
Syria: Russian IL-76 & Four Su-24s Over Homs 9-20-15
Syria: RuAF Su-24s In They Skies of Idlib
The immense psychological impact of what Russia has done cannot be overstated. The mere presence of increased Russian forces and activity in Latakia has changed the way the world views the Syrian war and the mantra we have heard from years from the Neoconservatives in the West about Assad having to leave in order for the war to end is now officially dead.
Politicians who have held maniacal, insane positions on this subject for years have now openly stated that it is worth trying to end the war without awaiting Assad’s exit or making it a precondition.
Netanyahu went to Moscow this week and so did Erdogan. Erdogan was so committed to regime change in Syria that he has restarted a civil war in Turkey in pursuit of it but suddenly the dream has been publicly abandoned by Erdogan, US Secretary of State John Kerry and other former fanatical regime change advocates.
“In the space of just 24 hours, both Ankara and Berlin announced this week that Assad could be a part of the solution to the civil war, and US President Barack Obama, who first said back in August 2011 that Assad “must step down”, is to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for talks on Monday.”
The quotes from Syrian residents regarding the Russian military presence are very revealing.
“Every morning, between 6 and 7, I see several Russian planes flying, and I really feel better,” says Ahmad, who lives near Bassel Assad International Airport in Hmeimim, 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of Latakia city.
The airport, along with Russia’s naval facility in nearby Tartus, have seen a major build-up in recent weeks.
“They were our friends, and now they have become our brothers — much more than many Arabs,” says Rima, a 25-year-old student.”
“I’m secular and I belong to a religious minority. For me, it’s the best thing that can happen because the Russians will keep the extremists from advancing,” says 40-year old engineer Fadi at a cafe in the Sheikh Daher commercial district.
“There is nothing more marvelous in the morning than drinking my coffee and smoking my narghileh (water pipe) on the balcony while listening to the melody of Russian planes,” says Nafaa, a 46-year old businessman in Sharashir, three kilometers (two miles) from the airport.
It is absolutely stunning to read these quotes and realise they are coming from a WESTERN NEWS OUTLET. After four years of the most evil lies imaginable, the truth is quite a shock.
A senior official in Syria described Russia’s military involvement as a “turning point” for the war.
“Russia intends to show that there is no solution without Assad and his army must be part of the fight against ISIS,” he said.
“Moscow wants to remind the United States that its relationship with Damascus dates back more than 50 years,” he said. “It’s also a message to regional countries that Russia intends to become a central player again.”
The Russian president is now the author of a new New World Order, he is the usurper and the destroyer of the dreams of the Neoconservative fanatics. The world domination dream is in ashes. It is gone.
US Sixty Minutes have an interview with Putin scheduled to air this weekend. Some of the sections concerning Syria have been released. Even CBS are apparently now going to broadcast some of the truth about the destruction the West has wrought in Libya, Iraq and Syria.
Vladimir Putin 60 Minutes interview FULL 9-27-15
The Munich Speech of 2007.
At a security conference in Munich in 2007, the Russian President explained what Russia was going to do and why they were going to do it.
In front of an audience that included Angela Merkel, John McCain, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Senator Joseph Lieberman,Tzipi Livni and Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, it is amusing to watch their faces as they are informed very politely that they are hubristic deluded fools whose days of arson are coming to an end.
Putin patiently explains that the period of total US domination of international politics had been a catastrophe and his intent to end it and replace it with a system of co-operation in the context of non-interference in other states.
“We need to put aside Geopolitical ambitions, abandon double the standards. The policy of using terrorist groups in order to achieve certain purposes, including the overthrow of unwanted regimes.”
“We support and continue to support the Syrian Government in it’s fight against terror. It is impossible to drive the Islamic State out of the country and out of the region without the support of the Syrian Government and Syrian military.”
“Refugees from Syria are fleeing a war imposed from outside. Without Russia’s support for Syria, the flow of refugees would have been bigger and the situation would have been worse than in Libya.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dushanbe, September 2015.
A Bankrupt Narrative has been exposed.
Beyond the fantasy parallel universe of the Western media. The world is changing. The game is up. The essential bankruptcy and hypocrisy and the destructiveness of the West throughout the Global War on Terror/Arab Spring era has been exposed.
They have destroyed Libya and Iraq, Afghanistan has not improved and yet they believe they can still pretend to be the good guys representing enlightenment and freedom.
Actions are everything, and the facts on the ground indisputably show that the West has been destroying nations in the Middle East and murdering millions in the process over the past fifteen years.
All seemingly in concert with Israel’s stated ambition to fragment the surrounding Arab states as elucidated by Oded Yinon in 1982.
The Real Death Cult. ISIL have been described as a death cult, and there is an element of truth to this but ISIL are a puny and poorly armed group and the real death cult is the Western cult of lies and delusion that refuses to recognise the simple reality of what has happened in Libya and Iraq and now demand the right to destroy Syria also.
All in the name of human rights of course. The human rights of people who will be at best completely forgotten as soon as the mission of regime change is achieved.
‘We need to abandon double standards to combat ISIS’ – Putin
The State Department refuse to accept the consequences of their actions.
The extent to which reality is edited is astonishing. Libya is a failed state. Libya was destroyed by the West, by people who claimed to want to help the people of the nation.
These very same people somehow magically disappeared entirely from the Western consciousness the moment the UN resolution required to destroy the state was achieved.
During the most recent US State Department briefing the currently anointed drone John Kirby refused to answer when asked whether Libya had improved since the Western regime change operation, offering the laughable “I refuse to dignify that with a response,”
Always a telltale sign that the spin event is not running smoothly.
Prior to that Spokesman actually tried to claim that Iraq has been improved by the criminal US coalition invasion that led to a minimum extra 1.3 million deaths and has left Iraq with three separate governments a genuinely sectarian conflict and the third largest city Mosul in the hands of the IS group who are far stronger in Iraq than Syria where the largest city they control is Raqqa a quarter the size of Mosul.
All in all the State Department over the past several years have exposed themselves as a key agent of International destabilisation.
They are the authors of the Ukraine coup and thus bear significant responsibility for the Donbass war.
The State Department was also at the forefront of the Libya operation that led to the nation’s destruction.
There are tens if not hundreds of thousands of people who are dead who would not be dead if the people at the State Department had simply stayed away from work over the past four years and still they postureas if none of it had even happened.
It will not wash anymore and they are going to have to do a lot better than “I refuse to dignify that question with a response” in order to begin to redeem themselves or the tattered credibility of the institutions they represent and that their response to the Russian moves in Syria has so cruelly exposed.
It is comedy hour when they pretend they have the right to determine who supports the Government of Syria by what means. Russia has now shown the IS operation up as the half-hearted, Machiavellian farce that it has been from day one.
Following the Crimea annexation and the outbreak of the Donbass war, Russia was supposed to be isolated, despised. The Western media still try to refer to Russian “international isolation” yet it is clear that this is nonsense.
When the Western media refer to the “international community” this simply means the US and whatever current set of lackeys it has deployed. That’s all.
Sometimes the “International community” represents as few as three or four nations as was the case with the Iraq invasion.
It was not France, Germany or Russia who were isolated when it came to the invasion of Iraq. It was the US, Britain Australia and Poland who were outnumbered by more than 180 dissenting states
Full Text of Vladimir Putin’s Dushanbe speech from here via here.
“I mentioned the situation in Syria and Iraq; they are the same as the situation in Afghanistan, in that they worry all of us. Please allow me to say a few words on the situation in this region, the situation around Syria.
The state of affairs there is very serious. The so-called Islamic State controls significant stretches of territory in Iraq and Syria. Terrorists are already publicly stating that they have targets set on Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem. Their plans include expanding activities to Europe, Russia, Central and Southeast Asia.
We are concerned by this, especially since militants undergoing ideological indoctrinations and military training by ISIS come from many nations around the world – including, unfortunately, European nations, the Russian Federation, and many former Soviet republics. And, of course, we are concerned by their possible return to our territories.
Basic common sense and a sense of responsibility for global and regional security require the international community to join forces against this threat. We need to set aside geopolitical ambitions, leave behind so-called double standards and the policy of direct or indirect use of individual terrorist groups to achieve one’s own opportunistic goals, including changes in undesirable governments and regimes.
As you know, Russia has proposed rapidly forming a broad coalition to counteract the extremists. It must unite everyone who is prepared to make, or is already making, an input into fighting terrorism, just as Iraq and Syria’s armed forces are doing today. We support the Syrian government – I want to say this – in countering terrorist aggression. We provide and will continue to provide the necessary military technology assistance and urge other nations to join in.
Clearly, without active participation by the Syrian authorities and military, without participation by the Syrian army, as the soldiers fighting with the Islamic State say, you cannot expel terrorists from this nation, as well as the region overall, it is impossible to protect the multi-ethnic and multi-faith people of Syria from elimination, enslavement and barbarism.
Of course, it is imperative to think about the political changes in Syria. And we know that President Assad is ready to involve the moderate segment of the opposition, the healthy opposition forces in these processes, in managing the state. But the need to join forces in the fight against terrorism is certainly at the forefront today. Without this, it is impossible to resolve the other urgent and growing problems, including the problem of refugees we are seeing now.
Incidentally, we are seeing something else: we are currently seeing attempts to practically put the blame on Russia for this problem, for its occurrence. As if the refugee problem grew because Russia supports the legitimate government in Syria.
First of all, I would like to note that the people of Syria are, first and foremost, fleeing the fighting, which is mostly due to external factors as a result of supplies of arms and other specialized equipment. People are feeling the atrocities of the terrorists. We know that they are committing atrocities there, that they are sacrificing people, destroying cultural monuments as I already mentioned, and so on. They are fleeing the radicals, first and foremost. And if Russia had not supported Syria, the situation in that nation would have been even worse than in Libya, and the flow of refugees would be even greater.
Second, the support of the legitimate government in Syria is not in any way related to the flow of refugees from nations like Libya, which I already mentioned, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, and many others. We were not the ones that destabilised the situation in those nations, in whole regions of the world. We did not destroy government institutions there, creating power vacuums that were immediately filled by terrorists. So nobody can say that we were the cause of this problem.
But right now, as I said, we need to focus on joining forces between the Syrian government, the Kurdish militia, the so-called moderate opposition, and nations in the region to fight the threat against Syria’s very statehood and the fight against terrorism – so that together, with our efforts combined, we can solve this problem.
I already spoke about the other issues that currently concern us, which we discussed today. In this respect, I would like to note that we plan to continue strengthening cooperation between our armed forces. We plan a whole set of activities in this area. I would like to also stress that our cooperation within the CSTO framework is certainly not directed against anybody. We are open to constructive cooperation, and that is precisely the approach that is reinforced in the final statement that will be signed today.
I am certain that we must resume concrete discussions on creating Euro-Atlantic systems for equitable and indivisible security; we need to carry out a full inventory of existing problems and disagreements. This analysis can be used to achieve a discussion of the principles of sustainable political development. The OSCE and other international organisations can be used to agree on legally binding guarantees concerning the indivisibility of security for all nations, achieve observance of important fundamental principles of international law (respecting the sovereignty of states, not meddling in their domestic affairs), and strengthen regulations on the inadmissibility of appeasing anti-state, anti-constitutional coups and the promotion of radical and extremist forces.”
The story was impossible to verify but the reported high point of the conversation was the Russian President promising to provide Turkey with “a big Stalingrad”* in Northern Syria. “..then tell your dictator president he can go to hell along with his ISIL terrorist and I shall make Syria to nothing but a ‘Big Stalingrad’, for Erdoğan and his Saudi allies”
The story was colourful and got a lot of attention, it was amusing enough but I thought Well how would he do that, given that no Russian forces are involved in combat in Syria?.
The Tartus Video.
A month later video has emerged of Russian infantry apparently preparing for combat at the Russian Naval base in Tartus, Syria. This video supports the story that Russia has decided to increase its military support to the Syrian Government in their military operations against foreign backed jihadist fighters.
The video is clearly shot in a Port and there is Arabic writing on the buildings where the troops are training. Russia has only one Naval base in an area with Arabic speakers so although this video could have been shot anywhere in theory, it is pretty obvious that they are in Tartus and they are Russians and they seem to be preparing for close quarters small arms based combat.
Syria: Russian Army Shooting Exercise in Port Tartus, Latakia
A Story that was lost in Hype.
Thierry Meyssan broke this story several weeks ago on August 24thbut his story was lost in a great tide of hype and embellishment that followed.
This was followed by a tidal wave of hyped stories based on tendentious and phony evidence.
There were pointless photographs of supposedly Russian aircraft flying sorties over Syria.
There is no evidence that any of the photographs of aircraft were authentic or that Russian pilots are flying sorties over Syria.
The claim that there were Russian troops in Latakia dd not appear to be supported by any real evidence, either unless you count the presence of Russian military vehicles as evidence which is ridiculous.
As far as Zabadani goes, another place it was claimed Russians were fighting, I have watched hours of combat footage from Zabadani and it is very clear that Hezbollah are doing the fighting with some support from the Syrian Army.
The rest of the story revolved largely around military equipment, a fairly fruitless path to take as essentially all of the hardware the Syrian Army use is Russian and has been for decades.
It is no secret that Russia has continued to supply weapons to Syria, although Russia pretends that it is only delivering defensive weaponry, this is laughable.
Russia’s role in support of the Syrian Government deserves praise as this support has enabled the Syrian state to survive the NATO/Israel/Saudi sponsored barrage of barbarous jihadists.
A look at the reality of Libya, the failed state NATO created in North Africa four years ago shows that Russia has done the world and human civilisation a favor by supporting the Syrian Government and the idea that the US with its hundreds of TOW missiles in the hands of terror groups has the right to offer one word of criticism is an abomination given the chaos and suffering Western policy in the Middle East has caused over the past decade.
The hype around the apparent increased Russian military presence in Syria has been dismaying.
While the US and their allies have clearly hoping they could somehow parlay the anti- IS operation into regime change in Syria as matters stand the US has been bombing Syria for 50 weeks and they have never targeted the Syrian Army or their allies.
The US has never come out and admitted it but they have been 100% fighting on the side of the Syrian Government in the Syrian Civil war. All of the US airstrikes have targeted either the al Nusra front or the IS group, the key enemies of the Syrian Government.
Therefore if Russian troops are actually going to be fighting in Syria, they are not going to be starting World War 3, as many have claimed; for the obvious reason that Russia will be joining the Syrian war on the same side as the US.
The stationing of Russian troops in Syria does not mean that they will be involved in combat. This is likely a political move aimed at outflanking the West and guaranteeing that the Syrian state will not be destroyed and that the Tartus Naval base remains.
It is highly unlikely that the Russian forces in Syria will be engaged in heavy fighting, but it is overwhelmingly likely that their presence will see an increase in weapons transfers and all types of support to Syria.
This is Russia gently edging the US aside and claiming they can do a better job against the IS group.
This is not Russia confronting the US in the slightest, this is Russia holding the US to their (insincere) word.
Russia appears to see the preservation of the Syrian state as a key goal rather than the Assad leadership. It is possible that Assad and his inner circle have agreed to leave or are planning to leave.
The Russian president Vladimir Putin recently stated that Assad was “open” to snap elections and/or a power sharing agreement.
The Minsk 2 formula could easily be used as a framework for ending the Syrian war. The fact tat the Ukraine government has not stopped shelling the civilians of the Donbass region does not discredit the Minsk formula.
The first step must be for all sides to agree to end offensive operations.. The territorial position must be made static.
Once the sprawling war can be contained, the IS group will have to be evicted.
If the IS group was the only group still fighting in Syria, they would cease to exist as a viable fighting force within weeks.
Once the IS group is evicted, the Syrian state must restore and secure the borders and a comprehensive political solution must be achieved.
The areas under rebel control should be offered similar provisions to those offered Donetsk and Luhansk in the Minsk accords, a deal for local autonomy and fresh elections.
There are many problems with this idea, including the fact that it would leave large areas of Syria under the control of al Nusra front, the al Qaeda Syria affiliate but the only other choice is endless war.
The Refugee Crisis.
The refugee psyop was the latest installment in the disastrous Arab spring concocted by Western intelligence agencies.
Still the posed dead Syrian child on the beach worked a treat with the less critically inclined people of the world who lapped it up gratefully as they do everything they are told.
The idea that the refugees are fleeing Assad is laughable, a fact illustrated by the fact that millions of internally displaced Syrians have moved into safe Government held areas. The population of Latakia province has for example more than doubled over the course of the war from 1.3 to 3 million.
Syria: Thousands attend pro-Assad rally in Latakia
Of course many of the refugees fled from the bombardment of Syrian Military jets, just as many more fled the rampaging jihadists but Syrians have fled by the million into the Syrian Government held areas.
The opposite has happened in rebel held areas, the IS capital in Syria Raqqa has seen it’s population halved since the maniacal Neo-Bolshevik militants seized the town, from 200 to fewer than 100 thousand.
The refugees deserve assistance and respect but the idea that you reward the people who are willing and able to bribe their way from the dismal refugee camps while those who cannot are left to rot is an absolute joke.
The refugee psyop is also being used to tear down the last strands of independence and sovereignty in Europe.
Refugee orders are coming directly to the nation states as edicts from the EU.
The Syrian war has been an immense disaster and the only real solution to the refugee crisis is to end the war.
The solution to the crisis is to end the war in Syria. The millions of people in the refugee camps of Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan are never all going to be able to live in the West. The idea that upping refugee intakes slightly solves the problem is absolute rubbish.
The posturing of leaders such as David Cameron, who almost never mentions Libya these days is utterly nauseating.
“President Assad and Isis must both be defeated by “hard military force,” David Cameron has said in his strongest signal yet that Britain will soon bomb Syria.”
“We can do all we can as the moral, humanitarian nation at taking people and spending money on aid and helping in refugee camps,” Mr Cameron told MPs at Prime Minister’s Questions.
“But we have to be part of the international alliance that says we need an approach in Syria which will mean we have a government that can look after its people.
“Assad has to go, Isil has to go and some of that will require not just spending money, not just aid, not just diplomacy, but it will on occasion require hard military force.”
The very idea that these bloodthirsty vultures of the West think they can pose as the guardians of human rights even as the bleeding continues from the last campaign of “humanitarian bombing” in Libya is almost beyond belief .
Cameron and the rest of the “Bankers little helpers” are an unambiguous force for evil in the world and appear to be proud of their role.
The forces of darkness and evil are clearly desperate and it can only be hoped that Cameron and the rest of the War party are never allowed to destroy another nation with their sickening lies and pitiful sophistry and that these snakes return as soon as possible to the abyss from which they emanate.
*The Battle for Stalingrad is widely perceived as the turning point in the European segment of the Second World War. After more than a years fighting in the city a German Army of hundreds of thousands surrendered to the Soviet forces after being cut off from supplies and running out of food and ammunition. People still like to tell the story of Napoleon’s Army in Russia being forced to eat their dead horses in the winter snow lest they starve.
In Stalingrad the situation was so desperate that the German soldiers were eating their dead comrades after they starved or froze to death.
Slowly starving to death, they resorted to slaughtering the 10,000 horses they had brought to the battle as a source of food. The Germans also had another problem to contend with, the cold, ill equipped for winter warfare as Hitler had arrogantly thought the battle would be over by the winter, the Germans now had to face temperatures of minus 30 degrees celsius (for comparison the temperature in your freezer is about minus 18 to 19 degrees celsius). Too weak to attempt the breakout that Hitler ordered too late, those who hadn’t been killed or starved, simply froze to death.
Therefore if Putin promised Erdogan “a new Stalingrad in Northern Syria as was reported he presumably meant more than simply sending Syria more and better weapons.
The Division 30 Fiasco and the Plot against Syria.
It was a totemic moment for the fading Empire.
After four years, an avalanche of media lies, numerous false flag chemical weapons attacks and finally the US trained some fighters and sent them into Northern Syria and … the local al Qaeda franchise eliminated them within days.
The US has tried to use the combination of airstrikes and weapons distribution to leverage influence within the Syrian insurgency. According to the Brookings Institute the US military has twin command centres in Jordan and Turkey from which US commanders are seeking to direct the insurgency.
” Several commanders involved in leading recent Idlib operations confirmed to this author that the U.S.-led operations room in southern Turkey, which coordinates the provision of lethal and non-lethal support to vetted opposition groups, was instrumental in facilitating their involvement in the operation from early April onwards. That operations room — along with another in Jordan, which covers Syria’s south — also appears to have dramatically increased its level of assistance and provision of intelligence to vetted groups in recent weeks.”
The fact that the al Nusra Front remain the primary fighting group in Northern Syria whilst the only US ally in Northern Syria, the Kurds are under Turkish attack along with the Division 30 fiasco show that these attempts to direct the insurgency have failed dismally. Engineered chaos is one thing but the US policy at this point is an utterly incoherent mess.
What else could be the explanation for such a half-hearted effort in so many different areas?
A training program that boasts of 54 graduates?
They cannot be serious.
The Division 30 Fiasco.
The United States trained and supplied a supposedly “pro-Western” group of Syrian rebel fighters named Division 30 who were tasked we are told with fighting ISIL. The group were inserted into Northern Syria from Turkey where they were trained. According to the Washington Post the fighters were supplied with equipment that would enable them to send the co-ordinates for US airstrikes via US personnel operating across the border in Turkey.
This was the new “streamlined” system the US was trying to implement according to the Washington Post’s Karen de Young who wrote
” a U.S. official familiar with the training program, who was not authorized to speak publicly on the issue, said that the capture was “definitely a setback” for U.S. and Turkish plans to use Division 30 fighters to help direct airstrikes against Islamic State forces and establish a rebel-controlled safe zone in the area.”
“The Assad government, which uses aircraft to attack opposition forces located relatively nearby, was warned by the administration — through a previously used conduit at the Syrian U.N. mission in New York — to stay away from where the trained fighters were inserted, another U.S. official said.”
“Although the trainees are not officially designated as spotters for the upcoming U.S. air attacks, they were given equipment that would allow them to send Islamic State coordinates to U.S. personnel on the Turkish side of the border. Those personnel would then transmit the information to surveillance aircraft and strike controllers, making strikes faster and more precise than using overhead surveillance alone.”
“The New Syrian Force fighters crossed the border at Kilis, on the Turkish side, to the Syrian border town of Azaz. At least some of them, the U.S. military official said, are believed to have taken leave after their return to Syria.
Hassan, along with his deputy, was said to have been captured while leaving a commanders meeting in Azaz.”
In a display of stunning arrogance and awesome imperial hubris, the United States had the temerity to inform the Syrian Government of the location of this force and tell the Syrian Government that the group were not to be attacked.
Imagine that, imagine the response from the United States if Russia inserted a group of armed men onto the territory of the United States, whose long term goal was the overthrow of the US Government and tried to claim the US did not have the right to attack illegal armed groups operating on their territory with the goal of overthrowing the Government!!
The United States after all has no legal right to operate in Syria whatsoever. There is no UN resolution authorising any use of force by the US or any other nation in Syria.
Because the US attacks in Syria to this point have been directed against the destructive and foul jihadist fighters of ISIL and the al Nusra Front, entities with no legal or international standing, few have chosen to quibble but any and all attacks by the US on the forces of the Syrian Government would be unambiguous breaches of International Law.
The US Should Decide Whether or Not it wants to be a Rogue State.
There is an international system of rules, laws and norms. The United States is a signatory and a participant in the United Nations. The United Nations Security Council has the legal authority under international law to authorise the use of force, as they did in the Libya case four years ago with disastrous results.
If the United States does not believe in the UN system and in international law. They should leave the United Nations and end the ridiculous pretense.
The al Nusra initially attacked a leadership meeting of the Division 30 group capturing the leader.
Their perception of the Division 30 spotters as a potential threat was not an unreasonable one in light of this history.
US Trained Rebels Captured by al Qaeda
Several days later another more concerted attack on the group followed and that was essentially the last that was heard of Division 30. They fled to a Kurdish controlled area and appear to have simply disappeared.
In the aftermath of the fiasco US aircraft attacked the Al Nusra headquarters in Azaz, in what seemed like the classic gesture of futility from the enraged but impotent giant.
Coalition strikes Nusra Front positions near Aleppo – amateur video
“I can tell you that the New Syrian Force personnel that are a part of our training program are all present and accounted for and none have been detained or captured,” said Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Defense Department spokesman.
This was despite the videos showing the fighters in custody released by the al Nusra Front fighters who had annihilated the tiny group of men the US trained and sent into Northern Syria with instructions to supposedly spot IS fighters and send their co-ordinates to US personnel across the border in Turkey who would then direct US aircraft towards these targets.,
It has been claimed that it was “assumed” the al Nusra Front would see the group as an ally. This hope was probably based on the fact that the al Nusra front have recently benefited greatly from the supply of US made TOW anti-tank missiles. al Nusra front were given the extremely effective weapons by the fake cut out group named Harakat Hazm in May.
“A video posted by Al Nusra shows the weapons being used to take over Syrian military bases, Wadi Deif and Hamidiyeh in Idlib province“
Whether the Khorasan group is real or not, and the Daily Mail headline provides a hint, the US has conducted an extremely intermittent campaign of airstrikes against al Nusra Front positions since the US began bombing Syria in late September, 2014.
The Syrian war.
Since the year 2011 the nation of Syria has been under attack from foreign backed extremist jihadist fighters, who continue to be supported by the West and the allies of the West including NATO member Turkey.
The extremist fighters of ISIL and the al Nusra front receive supplies, training, weaponry and other assistance from Turkey, the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the other Gulf states.
For four years the Western media have overwhelmingly supported the efforts of the al Qaeda affiliate the al Nusra front and the other Islamist fighting groups and have openly sought to suppress evidence of their war crimes even when the evidence was provided by their own journalists.
The Plotters Failed.
The regime change operation in Syria has failed. It has failed for two key reasons. Syria has allies and the al Ghouta false flag failed to deliver Western air strikes required for the operation to succeed after a truly bizarre series of events involving the British Labor party, US Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and even the journalist who asked John Kerry the question that opened the gate for the Russian diplomatic intervention that saw Syrian Chemical weapons stocks removed.
The Failed False Flag of August 2013 Ended the dream.
The regime change bid went off the rails in August/September 2013 after the failure of the al Ghouta chemical false flag to achieve the desired, by now routine Western bombardment followed by the violent overthrow of the Government and the state by Western backed mercenaries.
This was the moment for the War party, this was the opportunity but the seemingly inevitable attack never happened.
Syria’s Government had maintained strong ties with the Russian Federation and Russia has a naval base in Syria, it’s only Mediterranean base. So whereas Russia voted in favour of the Libya bombardment, they were very actively opposed to any attack on Syria. Iran threatened the US with regional war.
At this point the goal of Regime change had to be re-badged. Suddenly the ISIL group went on a massive rampage and someone started producing seemingly fake Westerner beheading videos to seal the deal with the TV people of the West.
Less than a year later the US was bombing Iraq, with the approval of the Iraq Government and soon they informed the Syrian Government that they will be bombing the ISIL group in Syria also.
It was only a matter of time before the US would make some sneaky move to enable them to attack Syria. The hope of a more rational course remained, but it was empty optimism.
The Motive is Clear.
The motivation for these operations appears to have been Western, Israeli and Saudi concern about the growing influence of Iran in the middle East that are due largely to the criminal invasion of Iraq by several Western nations in 2003 and before that the equally criminal Israeli attack on Lebanon of 1982.
These adventures led to Iran being able to build a vast land bridge of allies, reaching from the Western border of Afghanistan through to the Mediterranean in the West.Comprising Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, although neither side was fully in power in Lebanon or in Iraq, the parties allied with Iran had the upper hand, militarily and politically.
Syria with its strangely effete leader, its well beyond it’s use by date, Soviet style police state, it’s corruption , an antiquated military and it’s largely Sunni population was a natural target.
“The West, Gulf countries and Turkey support the opposition, Russia, China and Iran support the (Syrian) regime.”
The estimate of the death toll, the consensus Western estimate, is now 240,000 people, millions of people have fled for their lives. Large parts of Northern and Eastern Syria have fallen from Government control.
The Safe Zone.
Turkey has long been a proponent of the idea of a supposed “safe zone” in the Northern Syria border region. This plan generally meets with enthusiastic approval from the press organs of the War party as an important step on the way to regime change.
According to the Guardian, the safe zone is supposed to “stretch for 68 miles along the Turkey-Syria border, from the town of Jarabulus to Marea, and will be about 40 miles deep, reaching to the outskirts of Aleppo”
Many sources have been pouring cold water on the idea. The reason for this is obvious, there is a simple conflict in interest between the US and Turkey and their views of the situation.
Turkey is opposed to any form of Kurdish sovereignty at their southern border whilst the US sees the Kurdish fighters in both Iraq and Syria as a key ally. This is exemplified by the fact that the Kurdish fighters in Northern Syria have Western special forces embedded within them, something that emerged in this story
which states: “We had U.S. Special Forces not far from where the Turks were bombing, training Kurdish Peshmerga”
Rhetoric and Reality.
Turkey frequently engages in florid rhetoric but the actions rarely live up to the words. The anti Kurd operation in Northern Syria was a non starter because the US would not allow Turkey to bomb the Kurdish fighters and their Western special forces “trainers.” Turkey dropped some bombs in Northern Iraq, mouthed off and that was it. A joke.
There is no security force available to enforce or police the supposed safe zone on the ground. Turkey is not going to send sufficient forces to secure an area 60 by 40 miles. The only viable security force in the region are the Kurdish fighting groups the Turks virulently oppose and the whole thing has collapsed under the weight of these contradictions.
Even the US controlled media were deployed to pour cold water on the safe zone fantasy.
The safe zone is just another stupid idea that failed to achieve anything. One of many. Others will presumably follow in it’s wake and they will presumably fail for the reason that the plotters are seemingly infantile dullards whose ambitions and abilityalmost never match.
The plot seemed to reveal itself in Northern Syria last week. but the catastrophic results and the half hearted nature of the whole Division 30 operation speaks of a US administration that seems to be radically divided and engaged in high political warfare day in day out as the Hawks, the men and women of the Banker’s Empire desperately try to stymie the “US firsters” attempt to “change mission” from being Israel’s spearhead acting on Israel’s interests and against the interests of the United States and the broader international community.
A rational view of the US interesting the Middle East would emphasise stability and reform and seek to end the madness of sectarianism and proxy wars. This is unfortunately a pipe dream.
Anyone who thinks that the US or any Western nation is going to “impart Democratic values” upon the people of the Middle East or any other region by bombing their nation and destroying the state is in denial of the known reality.
It is no longer a matter of theory. We know the results of the Empire’s wars of enlightenment and democracy.
They are seen everyday in Iraq, Libya and all the other places the Western Militaries were tasked with destroying on behalf of the Bankers Empire.
Al Nusra Front Capture of US backed Rebels and Aftermath
The al Nusra Front released the Division 30 fighters they had captured several weeks later. It was also rumoured that Turkey had tipped the group off about the presence of the fighters. Later disgraced former CIA and Military Chief David Petraeus called for the US to bomb al Nusra Front to victory in Syria.
