Turkish artillery shelled Kurdish positions in Syria
(Short version )
February 14th, 2016.
Turkish Artillery Attacking Syrian Kurds as Massive Escalation Threatened.
“Cessation of hostilities” mirage is dissolving.
Several Turkish politicians including Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu have been alluding to a Turkish escalation into Syria in recent days. This escalation appears to be beginning and in recent hours Turkish artillery shells have been falling on the positions of the Kurdish YPG group in the vicinity of the Menagh Airbase. There are also reports of increased activity by Turkish warplanes in the border region.
The Menagh Airbase was captured by Kurdish fighters earlier this week with the overt support of both Russia and the United States. US and other Western forces are embedded within the YPG units and there were Russian airstrikes and ammunition drops in support of the offensive to seize the airbase.
Syria: Kurdish fighters launch offensive on militant-held Menagh airbase
The Airbase was seized from the al Nusra front, it had been in the hands of rebels since it was seized by a coalition that included ISIS and the Free Syrian Army in August 2013. The seizure was spearheaded by ISIS suicide car/truck bomb attacks and yet in the pro-opposition media the victory was attributed to the Free Syrian Army.
Captured Syrian soldiers were beheaded on video by some of the ISIS fighters involved in the assault and the videos were posted on the internet.(Source)
According to the Western media and even the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, instead of targeting jihadist extremist fighters, the Russian Airstrikes have been targeting “moderate rebels” in Syria belonging to groups such as the Free Syrian Army.
“Russia has mainly targeted opposition groups and not ISIL (ISIS). Airstrikes of Russian planes against different opposition groups in Syria have actually undermined the efforts to reach a negotiated, peaceful solution,” (Source)
Stoltenburg has a problem with Russian bombing of al Qaeda fighters, which seems rather odd.
Yet the Free Syrian Army have been an on/off ally of ISIS for several years now in Aleppo so who on earth are they even talking about?
According to the Munich “Cessation of Hostilities” the al Nusra Front (al Qaeda in Syria) and ISIS/Daesh and their allies are still valid targets.
In the real world it was long ago stated by the US Vice President that there are no moderate militant factions in Syria of any note.
Biden admits there are NO MODERATES and the Arab Monarchies Fund Radical Islamists in Syria
All of the insurgent groups fighting in Syria of any consequence are now or have been the allies of one or both ISIS and al Nusra so they are all fair game. If Turkey and Saudi Arabia enter Syria they will risk devastating consequences beyond the imagination of their deluded leadership who appear intent on starting a major war in order to pursue the dead dream of regime change in Syria. If this leads to major war, history will condemn these criminals until the end of time.
It is interesting to note that the gangsters are no longer even trying to pretend it is about ISIS.
Turkish PM threatens military action against Syrian Kurdish fighters
False Flag a strong possibility.
Given the recent history of false flag terror attacks the Turkish leadership have apparently conducted in Suruc and Ankara and their alleged intimate connection with the al Ghouta false flag chemical attack of August 2013 in pursuit of their geopolitical goals. It would be unsurprising to see a false flag massacre conducted against the refugee population in the border region in the coming days in order to justify the Turkish escalation and invasion of Syria. I am not predicting this will happen, but if it does happen it would be true to form and no-one should believe for a second that the Russians would attack a refugee camp. If anything bad happens to those people in the border region it should be attributed to the Turks and the Saudis until conclusively proven otherwise.
The Saudis did bobm a refugee camp in the early days of the Yemen attack, on March 30th, 2015 a refugee camp was struck by a series of air strikes that left dozens of civilians dead.
None of the people concerned for the fate of the people in Aleppo had a word to say about that criminal massacre however, that is not how it works. Our “side” make honest errors versus the “other side” conduct deliberate atrocities.
Loyalist Victories Prove Russian Presence Has Transformed the Syrian War.
Aleppo victories mean that Insurgents Northern supply line has been severed.
Aleppo City pocket almost encircled.
After four months of Russian Airstrikes the situation in Syria has been transformed and in the past several weeks the Loyalist forces have won important victories in the North and South of Syria with the capture of the key crossroads town Sheikh Miskeen in the South as well as the key towns Salma and Rabia in the northern Latakia province.
Those important victories have this week been eclipsed by the major achievements in Aleppo where the sieges of the towns Zahra and Nubil were lifted after forty months and the loyalist forces have now cut off the insurgents in Northern Aleppo from their supply lines via the Aleppo countryside and the Turkish border. Both sides are taking heavy casualties but the Syrian Army and allies are achieving their objectives, the insurgents are dying and at the same time losing territories they fought hard for years to capture and hold.

Syria: Syrian Army makes push to fully encircle Aleppo
The Suffering is Immense.
There should be no mistake about the fact there is an immense amount of suffering currently being visited upon the beleaguered people of Syria, nor that the Russian/Syrian air campaign is playing a significant role in this suffering and death.
While many of the areas of fighting in Syria are devoid of civilians, having been emptied during previous battles, many people live in rebel held areas of Idlib, Aleppo and several other provinces and civilians in these areas have died in large numbers at the hands of Russian and Syrian airstrikes targeting militant positions.
The insurgent and Western media propaganda line that Russian Airstrikes are targeting civilians is not supported by facts or logic, but the idea that the Russian Air-force are launching thousands of airstrikes without killing civilians is equally ludicrous and the Russian media do themselves no credit the way they have completely ignored the civilian deaths the air campaign has caused.
Despite this the Syrian-Russian-Iranian operation is worthy of support because a victory for the insurgents in Syria would not see an end to the fighting but would lead to fracture and descent into chaos as competing insurgent warlords vied for power.
Previous victories in Afghanistan and more recently in Libya have seen this descent into chaos and failed statehood status. If the likes of Jaish al Islam, Ahrar al Sham, al Nusra and ISIL/Daesh were vying for power the results would be almost identical to the process that has seen the once thriving Libyan state become a failed and broken state and a base for the extremists who threaten to attack the West and bring instability to wherever they operate.
The only party with any chance of stabilising the situation is the Syrian state, deeply flawed as it is. All other paths lead to long term mayhem and broadening instability.
Turkey and Saudi Arabia threaten invasion of Syria.
Saudi Arabia and the mini me Gulf States the UAE and Qatar have responded to this situation by suggesting that they will send troops into Syria to “battle Daesh.”A pretext that should no longer fools anyone.
The Gulf coalition are clearly already suffering a severe shortage of quality ground forces, hence their need to deploy Blackwater/Academi/Xe mercenaries in large numbers on the ground in Yemen. Saudi Arabia is also suffering regular cross border raids from their Yemeni enemies.
As far as Turkey goes they are not going to be able to do anything significant in Syria without the assent of the US and there is little chance of that happening given that the key Turkish target in Syria is the key US ally, the YPG Kurds. It is a non-starter even by Erdogan’s loose standards.
The US has no interest in choosing between Turkey and the Syrian Kurds, but a leadership change in Turkey may allow the US to solve the dilemma in another manner.
Turkey still supports the regime change operation in Syria but they are not about to attack the Syrian Army inside Syria and find themselves under bombardment from the Russian Air force.
One option they may seek to take would be to corral the tens of thousands of refugees fleeing the Aleppo fighting within Syria and send a “protection force” to institute the long mooted (and even announced in July 2015) safe zone in Northern Syria although whatever happens the presence in Syria of the Russian S400 anti aircraft and missile systems mean the proposed no fly zone is an impossibility short of open war with Russia and the highly factionalised US administration does not seem to support this project therefore it will not happen.
The US refused to support the safe zone prior to the Russian military involvement in Syria, back in July, when the risks and costs were far lower so it seems inconceivable that it would be supported at this time . At a moment of high desperation for the plotters the refugees will presumably be again used to try and rescue the situation.

Messages of Despair and Pleas for help from Insurgents.
“This is my last video from the revolution in the north. Iran and Russia attacked us and the world made war on us destroying the green and the dry.( Apparent Google translate error) The Americans betrayed us and got us into this shameful situation. We thank our allies Turkey and Saudi and Qatar. We needed anti-aircraft weapons but we didn’t get them. So we have to pull out.”
Syria, Northern Aleppo, Militant in Rityan message to People before Withdrawing This Morning.
This video is quite horrific. It consists of a plea for unity among insurgent factions. The wounded fighter is named Abu Homs. It is hard to watch but serves as a reminder that real people are dying unnecessarily in this war. The Syrian opposition contains many Syrian who were duped, manipulated and sold a suite of false promises and lies from their sponsors.
This is what he looked like before he was wounded.
Wounded Insurgent’s Hospital Message
Ending the Carnage.
Even if the Syrian Arab Army and their allies are able to win every battle and destroy the insurgent formations, a political solution will still be required and the insurgents will have to be given some type of autonomy and increased participation in Syrian politics otherwise the insurhency will continue indefinitely long after the war ends, as has happened in Iraq.
The initial round of Syria peace talks were an empty farce with the opposition making the ridiculous demand that the Syrian Government and their allies stop fighting prior to the dialogue. It can only be hoped that the reality of their situation dawns upon them soon and a more realistic and conciliatory outlook will replace the delusional grandstanding that still dominate the opposition public narrative.
The Plight of Refik Tekin and the Turkey’s Descent into Tyranny.
The footage of civilians coming under fire in Cizre, Turkey was photographed by a man named Refik Tekin, a cameraman and photographer for the national Turkish television network IMC news. Refik Tekin survived the gunshot wound to the leg he received in the incident that left at least two dead and ten wounded and is recovering in Mardin State Hospital.
Police stand guard awaiting Refik Tekin’s recovery as whilst he lay in hospital Refik Tekin has been designated by a Turkish Court as a “separatist terrorist organisation member”
“the order submitted by Şırnak Provincial Security Directorate has instructed to keep Tekin under surveillance during his stay at the hospital and to take him into custody and have his testimony after being released from the hospital.”
“Both the documents prepared by Chief Prosecutor M. Sait Köseoğlu and Şırnak Provincial Security Department use the expression “separatist terrorist organization member” concerning journalist Refik Tekin.”
So having shot and wounded him after opening fire on a non-violent group of people the Turkish authorities are seeking to claim that they were attacking the PKK and therefore Refik Tekin must be a member. It is transparent nonsense but sadly typical of Turkey under late era Erdogan who shows clear signs of delusion.
Rafik Tehin had previously earned the ire of the Turkish ruling party having photographed ISIL/Daesh fighters openly crossing the Turkey/Syria border unimpeded by Turkish officials.
AKP Conducting Widespread Assault on Civil Society.
Journalists, Academics and Lawyers targeted by Erdogan regime.
The decision to portray Refik Tekin as a member of the PKK is mirrored by the widespread attempt to intimidate any who would criticise the futile South Eastern operation against the PKK, or mention issues of political corruption. Saying anything that contradicts the official fiction of the Turkish state is enough to warrant dismissal or arrest.
At the most moderate level journalists are sacked for speaking on the subject of Government corruption, a mention of the term shoebox is sufficient to qualify, and any criticism of the Government, even delivered second hand, are grounds for immediate dismissal.
According to the Committee to Protect Journalists fourteen Turkish journalists are currently incarcerated and ridiculous charges such as “spreading terrorist propaganda” (applied against completely bland anti war messages) to the ludicrous criminal charge of “targeting members of the Government” (for criticism) and espionage charges for those who have uncovered Turkish support for ISIL/Daesh.
They are attempting to make criticism of members of the Government a criminal act. It is an absolute joke that such a state would even be considered a candidate for the EU but the admission of Bulgaria indicates that a gangster government is no disqualification.
One memorable recent example of the increasingly brazen tyranny of the AKP was the case of the academics detained and charged for signing an anti-war petition. Academics who signed the petition were also targeted by public death threats from the ultranationalist organised crime boss and Erdogan supporter Sedat Peker.
Prominent Kurdish human rights lawyer Tahir Elci was shot to death in the street as he gave a press conference calling for peace. Turkish police have unsurprisingly made zero progress in that murder investigation.
Press TV journalist Serena Shim‘s death in late 2014 was not an accident and the identity of the perpetrators is no mystery, the key protector and facilitator for ISIl tasks in the border region have been filled by the MIT intelligence organisation.
Brutish authoritarianism is being exercised against opponents of the policies of the Turkish Government and corruption whistleblowers. Sibel Edmonds has pointed out that these policies in Turkey are not unique to the current Government and also that Western Intelligence has several hand picked replacements waiting in the wings.
These details do not change the fact that the conduct of the AKP Government has severely damaged Turkey domestically and internationally and the level of tyranny is completely unacceptable in any era.
Ergogan is a demagogue waving the flag of Islam for convenience. Erdogan is an organised crime figure first and foremost and no more a Muslim than the Skull and Bonesmember with (alleged) large interests in the international drug trade George H.W Bush was a Christian.
Where will it end?
The Civil War has been cynically restarted in Turkey due to anxieties about Kurdish gains in Iraq and Syria, the relationship with Russia has been completely trashed for the same broad reason, out of frustration at the failures of the Syria regime change effort, one almost forgotten fact at this point is that Turkey and Russia were close enough that Turkey agreed to allow Russia to build and operate Turkey’s first nuclear reactor.
The economic relationship is huge for both states and the path for Erdogan’s departure has been paved by his massive errors on the international stage.
Yesterday Turkey complained that a Russian SU34 fighter jet had entered Turkish airspace. Today video has emerged that is claimed to depict the Turkish military firing artillery from Turkey against Syrian Russian troops in Latakia, where the Turkish backed insurgents are facing complete defeat. It seems absurd that the Turkish military would fight a war with Russia in order to somehow save the failing Syrian regime change operation, but stranger things have happened.
‘Irrefutable proof’: Turkey shells Syrian territory – Russian military
Several Kurdish districts of South Eastern Turkey have been under curfew since mid December.
Silopi, Cizre and the Sur district of Diyarbakir have been under curfew and the bodies of dead civilians and fighters have been lying unburied in the streets. The population of the Sur district has shrunk from 24000 to 4000 due to the military operations.
The video shows a group of mostly elderly people, many carrying white flags. They are attempting to transport several bodies to the cemetery for burial. A Turkish armoured vehicle is situated down the street several hundred yards away.
The first shots appear to be warning shots aimed over the heads of the crowd who begin to move off the street out of the line of fire. The first two bursts of fire do not appear to hit anyone but the third burst is aimed at the final civilians in the street and several of them are shot and killed and it is clear that they posed no threat to anyone.
It is the type of scene you expect to see in Gaza. There is a complete disregard for human life.

Civil War in the South East of Turkey.
At least 150 civilians have died in the Turkish anti- PKK operations in South Eastern Turkey over the past five months.
The operations were a response to Turkish concerns about Kurdish territorial gains in Syria and Iraq and the pretext for the entire operation was the massacre of Kurdish activists in Suruc in late July 2015.
Turkey has reportedly begun an operation involving 1000 troops inside Syria over the past several days. (Source)
Turkey is at odds now with both the United States and Russia in Syria. The United States has increased their backing for the Kurdish fighters in Syria, US and other Western Special Forces are embedded with them and the US has begun building an air base in the Kurdish held part of Northern Syria in recent months. (Source)
This, combined with the exposure of Turkey’s crucial and pivotal role in the rise of ISIL/Daesh and their prolific stolen oil business partnership do not bode well for the future of Turkish President Erdogan.
The Turkish Government operations in South Eastern Turkey are criminal operations in many ways but it is also clear that Kurdish militants are not going to achieve anything fighting the Turkish Army in Turkey. PKK operations inside Turkey are a boost to the increasingly erratic Erdogan, it is the fighters in Syria with the US and Russian allies who will be able to achieve something for the Kurdish people so the efforts are much better directed there.
Russian Su24 attacked near Syrian border and Helicopter downed in Latakia.
A Russian Su24 aircraft has been shot down in the Syrian/Turkey border region by an air to air missile fired from a Turkish F16 fighter jet
In addition it a Russian MI8 helicopter has been downed in Latakia. It is being reported that the helicopter was trying to recover the missing Russian pilot. According to the rebels, the helicopter was brought down with a US supplied TOW anti-tank missile, the helicopter was able to land the 10 or so people on board evacuated the helicopter and the rebels then blew it up on the ground.(Source)
Video by FSA said-to-show Russian-made grounded helicopter destroyed by TOW near Su-24 crash site
The Independent state that the Su24 pilots ejected and parachuted to the ground and that several helicopters were dispatched to save the pilots but that there are heavy clashes ongoing in the area.
Despite both pilots being raked with machine gun fire as they fell to the earth one of the pilots survived and is back at the Latakia airbase, the other pilot and one member of the rescue teams were killed.
Vladimir Putin: Thank you very much, Your Majesty.
Thank you for your condolences, including your words in connection with today’s crash of our fighter aircraft. This event goes beyond regular efforts to combat terrorism.
Our servicemen are engaged in a heroic fight against terrorism, not sparing themselves or their own lives. However, today’s loss is a result of a stab in the back delivered by terrorists’ accomplices. There is no other way I can qualify what happened today.
Our aircraft was shot down over Syrian territory by an air-to-air missile launched from a Turkish F-16 plane. It fell on Syrian territory, four kilometres from the Turkish border. When it was attacked in the air, it was flying at an altitude of 6,000 metres, one kilometre away from the Turkish territory. In any case, our plane and our pilots were in no way a threat to the Turkish Republic in any way. This is obvious.
They were conducting an operation to fight ISIS in northern Latakia – a mountainous area where militants, mainly those coming from the Russian Federation, are concentrated. In this sense, they were doing their direct duty delivering preventive blows at terrorists who could return to Russia at any moment. Those people should certainly be classified as international terrorists.
We have long been recording the movement of a large amount of oil and petroleum products to Turkey from ISIS-occupied territories. This explains the significant funding the terrorists are receiving. Now they are stabbing us in the back by hitting our planes that are fighting terrorism. This is happening despite the agreement we have signed with our American partners to prevent air incidents, and, as you know, Turkey is among those who are supposed to be fighting terrorism within the American coalition.
If ISIS is making so much money – we are talking about tens or maybe even hundreds of millions, possibly billions of dollars – in oil trade and they are supported by the armed forces of an entire state, it is clear why they are being so daring and impudent, why they are killing people in such gruesome ways, why they are committing terrorist attacks all over the world, including in the heart of Europe.
We will of course carefully analyse what has happened and today’s tragic event will have significant consequences for Russian-Turkish relations.
We have always treated Turkey not merely as a close neighbour, but as a friendly state. I do not know who benefits from what has happened today. We certainly do not. Moreover, instead of immediately establishing contacts with us, as far as we know Turkey turned to its NATO partners to discuss this incident. As if we had hit their plane and not the other way around.
Do they wish to make NATO serve ISIS? I know that every state has its regional interests, and we always respect those. However, we will never turn a blind eye to such crimes as the one that was committed today.
Obviously, we expect the international community to make an effort to join forces in the fight against this common evil.
In this connection, we are counting on the active participation of all the countries in the region in this struggle. I am therefore very happy to meet with you today, Your Majesty. We will continue working with your special services experts and your military, as well as with other countries in the region.
Putin is generally a very, very cold individual, today he seemed both tired and enraged.
The US has offered no comment at this stage, a NATO emergency meeting is scheduled for later in the day.
This may be the beginning of a chain of cataclysmic events.
The shooting down of Syrian aircraft by Turkey has happened several times already but the entrance of Russia puts an entirely different complexion on this event as it does all others in this war.
The Russian Airforce are destroying ISIL and all the Syrian rebel groups, this situation is intolerable to the likes of the Turkish, Saudi, Israeli governments and American Neocon elements.
Preliminary accounts from Russia and Turkey. (Source)
Turkish jets shot down a warplane believed to be a Russian type SU-24 for violating Turkey’s airspace near its border with Syria on Tuesday, Turkish presidential sources said.
The warplane went down in Syria’s northwestern Turkmen town of Bayirbucak near Turkey’s border within the framework of engagement rules, the sources added.
The Turkish General Staff said the downed foreign jet was issued 10 warnings in five minutes and it was shot down by two F-16s.
Turkish Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar briefed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the situation following the crash. Akar along with Turkish Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioglu also briefed Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
Former British diplomat Craig Murray offered this early assessment of Turkey’s actions.
I calculate that each “incursion” over Turkish territory would have lasted about 10 seconds, assuming the plane was flying slowly at 600mph. That Turkey shot down the plane for this is madness, and absolutely indefensible. It is fairly obvious from the track that the plane was operating against Turkish sponsored Turkmen rebels inside Syria, and that is why the Turks shot it down. (Source)
As far as Turkeys demands for their sovereignty to be respected go, that is an absolute joke as Turkey respects neither the sovereignty of Iraq nor Syria launching frequent bombing attacks on Kurdish targets in both nations.
The idea that they should perceive an aircraft in their airspace as a threat and target it on hat basis is not credible.
Turkey is so audacious and criminal they have set up a military observation position complete with NATO listening post INSIDE Syria as this Russian television report depicts.
Great Russian TV report from the Syrian town Kessab on the border with Turkey
This is a provocation that in a worst case scenario could lead to all out war between NATO and Russia leaving an unthinkable number of people dead.
Russian sources are already describing this as a NATO declaration of war on Russia.

International Military Review – Syria-Iraq Battlespace, Nov. 24, 2015
This story is still developing and will be fleshed out as more information becomes available.
Updated October 12th, Death toll from Ankara blasts is now 128 dead.
The worst terror attack in the history of the Turkish Republic, the people know precisely who is to blame and the thugs of the Turkish Deep State are not going to be allowed to get away with this one. Political Waterloo has arrived for the increasingly Napoleonic Erdogan and his AK party.
“Protesters chanting “murderer Erdogan” and other anti-government slogans gathered near the scene of the deadliest terror attack in Turkey’s history, which has claimed 128 lives and left hundreds wounded”
When you are a NATO member and a “loyalist” publication such as the Guardian is writing things like this about you, it is a very bad sign.
“Thousands of Turkish citizens gathered in central Ankara a day after twin bombings targeted a peace rally in the city, killing over a hundred civilians in an attack that demonstrators and mourners blamed squarely on the government of the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.”
“Witnesses and victims’ families, as well as opposition parties, ascribed direct responsibility to the government for allegedly failing to provide any security measures ahead of the peace rally, saying police officers who arrived at the scene after the bombing fired teargas at grieving families who rushed there to inquire about their loved ones.”
Turkey: Monday dawns as the Ankara bombing death toll rises to 128
Ankara Massacre: at least 95 dead after twin blasts target a peace rally.
Two blasts in the Turkish capital Ankara have killed at least 95 people and left two hundred injured. The attacks are the deadliest in the history of the Turkish Republic.
The blasts, like the July attack in Suruc, and a smaller blast in Diyarbakir in June targeted a political grouping of Kurdish activists, in this case from the mainstream Kurdish HDP party.
The Kurdish activists were hit as they prepared to participate in a broader multi-party leftist peace rally against the low-level Civil war that has broken out between the Turkish state and Kurdish militants over the past several months.
The Civil war was restarted when Turkey chose inexplicably to respond to the Suruc massacre by bombing Kurdish positions in Iraq, Syria and Turkey
The PKK Kurdish separatist militant group had earlier announced a unilateral ceasefire in the Turkish Civil war in order to enable the November elections to take place.
The position of the Turkish ruling party the AKP has been deteriorating since they lost their Parliamentary majority in elections earlier this year and failed to form a coalition.
Elections are scheduled for next month, and it is entirely possible that these massacres are part of a plot to engineer an emergency large enough to cause their postponement.
Eyewitnesses speak of stand down.
Early eyewitness accounts mention a total lack of security checkpoints in the region of the planned rally and they are stating that such checkpoints are a routine presence at large rallies pointing to a possible stand-down from the Turkish Security forces in order to enable the attack to succeed.
The attacks are being blamed on suicide bombers, there is no evidence to support that claim at this time and the prime suspect, the only other party with a clear and obvious motive other than criminal elements of the Turkish state, ISIL have not claimed responsibility at least six hours after the attack.
Authentic ISIL attacks tend to carry an immediate claim of responsibility.
It is extremely likely that at some point some unverifiable Twitter account will claim responsibility as happened in Suruc where they embarrassingly claimed to have conducted a car bombing when there had been no car bombing at all.
Turkey in Crisis.
The claims that the Suruc attack was conducted by a suicide attacker were never substantiated beyond a name and all indications are that the Suruc attack was conducted by elements of the Turkish State as part of a desperate attempt to complete the regime change project in Syria, an effort that clearly failed and has now left them with a fresh round in the Kurdish Turkey Civil war as a by product of their cynicism and wickedness.
Even if the Ankara massacre miraculously turns out to have been an authentic ISIL terror attack, the Turkish state is so deeply entwined with the criminal terror group as to make the distinction almost meaningless at this stage.
Turkey has acted as the key source of supplies and recruits for the ISIL group and acts a key facilitator for them in general with the Turkish Presidents own son intimately connected to the groups illegal oil sales.
The story was impossible to verify but the reported high point of the conversation was the Russian President promising to provide Turkey with “a big Stalingrad”* in Northern Syria. “..then tell your dictator president he can go to hell along with his ISIL terrorist and I shall make Syria to nothing but a ‘Big Stalingrad’, for Erdoğan and his Saudi allies”
The story was colourful and got a lot of attention, it was amusing enough but I thought Well how would he do that, given that no Russian forces are involved in combat in Syria?.
The Tartus Video.
A month later video has emerged of Russian infantry apparently preparing for combat at the Russian Naval base in Tartus, Syria. This video supports the story that Russia has decided to increase its military support to the Syrian Government in their military operations against foreign backed jihadist fighters.
The video is clearly shot in a Port and there is Arabic writing on the buildings where the troops are training. Russia has only one Naval base in an area with Arabic speakers so although this video could have been shot anywhere in theory, it is pretty obvious that they are in Tartus and they are Russians and they seem to be preparing for close quarters small arms based combat.
Syria: Russian Army Shooting Exercise in Port Tartus, Latakia
A Story that was lost in Hype.
Thierry Meyssan broke this story several weeks ago on August 24thbut his story was lost in a great tide of hype and embellishment that followed.
This was followed by a tidal wave of hyped stories based on tendentious and phony evidence.
There were pointless photographs of supposedly Russian aircraft flying sorties over Syria.
There is no evidence that any of the photographs of aircraft were authentic or that Russian pilots are flying sorties over Syria.
The claim that there were Russian troops in Latakia dd not appear to be supported by any real evidence, either unless you count the presence of Russian military vehicles as evidence which is ridiculous.
As far as Zabadani goes, another place it was claimed Russians were fighting, I have watched hours of combat footage from Zabadani and it is very clear that Hezbollah are doing the fighting with some support from the Syrian Army.
The rest of the story revolved largely around military equipment, a fairly fruitless path to take as essentially all of the hardware the Syrian Army use is Russian and has been for decades.
It is no secret that Russia has continued to supply weapons to Syria, although Russia pretends that it is only delivering defensive weaponry, this is laughable.
Russia’s role in support of the Syrian Government deserves praise as this support has enabled the Syrian state to survive the NATO/Israel/Saudi sponsored barrage of barbarous jihadists.
A look at the reality of Libya, the failed state NATO created in North Africa four years ago shows that Russia has done the world and human civilisation a favor by supporting the Syrian Government and the idea that the US with its hundreds of TOW missiles in the hands of terror groups has the right to offer one word of criticism is an abomination given the chaos and suffering Western policy in the Middle East has caused over the past decade.
The hype around the apparent increased Russian military presence in Syria has been dismaying.
While the US and their allies have clearly hoping they could somehow parlay the anti- IS operation into regime change in Syria as matters stand the US has been bombing Syria for 50 weeks and they have never targeted the Syrian Army or their allies.
The US has never come out and admitted it but they have been 100% fighting on the side of the Syrian Government in the Syrian Civil war. All of the US airstrikes have targeted either the al Nusra front or the IS group, the key enemies of the Syrian Government.
Therefore if Russian troops are actually going to be fighting in Syria, they are not going to be starting World War 3, as many have claimed; for the obvious reason that Russia will be joining the Syrian war on the same side as the US.
The stationing of Russian troops in Syria does not mean that they will be involved in combat. This is likely a political move aimed at outflanking the West and guaranteeing that the Syrian state will not be destroyed and that the Tartus Naval base remains.
It is highly unlikely that the Russian forces in Syria will be engaged in heavy fighting, but it is overwhelmingly likely that their presence will see an increase in weapons transfers and all types of support to Syria.
This is Russia gently edging the US aside and claiming they can do a better job against the IS group.
This is not Russia confronting the US in the slightest, this is Russia holding the US to their (insincere) word.
Russia appears to see the preservation of the Syrian state as a key goal rather than the Assad leadership. It is possible that Assad and his inner circle have agreed to leave or are planning to leave.
The Russian president Vladimir Putin recently stated that Assad was “open” to snap elections and/or a power sharing agreement.
The Minsk 2 formula could easily be used as a framework for ending the Syrian war. The fact tat the Ukraine government has not stopped shelling the civilians of the Donbass region does not discredit the Minsk formula.
The first step must be for all sides to agree to end offensive operations.. The territorial position must be made static.
Once the sprawling war can be contained, the IS group will have to be evicted.
If the IS group was the only group still fighting in Syria, they would cease to exist as a viable fighting force within weeks.
Once the IS group is evicted, the Syrian state must restore and secure the borders and a comprehensive political solution must be achieved.
The areas under rebel control should be offered similar provisions to those offered Donetsk and Luhansk in the Minsk accords, a deal for local autonomy and fresh elections.
There are many problems with this idea, including the fact that it would leave large areas of Syria under the control of al Nusra front, the al Qaeda Syria affiliate but the only other choice is endless war.
The Refugee Crisis.
The refugee psyop was the latest installment in the disastrous Arab spring concocted by Western intelligence agencies.
Still the posed dead Syrian child on the beach worked a treat with the less critically inclined people of the world who lapped it up gratefully as they do everything they are told.
The idea that the refugees are fleeing Assad is laughable, a fact illustrated by the fact that millions of internally displaced Syrians have moved into safe Government held areas. The population of Latakia province has for example more than doubled over the course of the war from 1.3 to 3 million.
Syria: Thousands attend pro-Assad rally in Latakia
Of course many of the refugees fled from the bombardment of Syrian Military jets, just as many more fled the rampaging jihadists but Syrians have fled by the million into the Syrian Government held areas.
The opposite has happened in rebel held areas, the IS capital in Syria Raqqa has seen it’s population halved since the maniacal Neo-Bolshevik militants seized the town, from 200 to fewer than 100 thousand.
The refugees deserve assistance and respect but the idea that you reward the people who are willing and able to bribe their way from the dismal refugee camps while those who cannot are left to rot is an absolute joke.
The refugee psyop is also being used to tear down the last strands of independence and sovereignty in Europe.
Refugee orders are coming directly to the nation states as edicts from the EU.
The Syrian war has been an immense disaster and the only real solution to the refugee crisis is to end the war.
The solution to the crisis is to end the war in Syria. The millions of people in the refugee camps of Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan are never all going to be able to live in the West. The idea that upping refugee intakes slightly solves the problem is absolute rubbish.
The posturing of leaders such as David Cameron, who almost never mentions Libya these days is utterly nauseating.
“President Assad and Isis must both be defeated by “hard military force,” David Cameron has said in his strongest signal yet that Britain will soon bomb Syria.”
“We can do all we can as the moral, humanitarian nation at taking people and spending money on aid and helping in refugee camps,” Mr Cameron told MPs at Prime Minister’s Questions.
“But we have to be part of the international alliance that says we need an approach in Syria which will mean we have a government that can look after its people.
“Assad has to go, Isil has to go and some of that will require not just spending money, not just aid, not just diplomacy, but it will on occasion require hard military force.”
The very idea that these bloodthirsty vultures of the West think they can pose as the guardians of human rights even as the bleeding continues from the last campaign of “humanitarian bombing” in Libya is almost beyond belief .
Cameron and the rest of the “Bankers little helpers” are an unambiguous force for evil in the world and appear to be proud of their role.
The forces of darkness and evil are clearly desperate and it can only be hoped that Cameron and the rest of the War party are never allowed to destroy another nation with their sickening lies and pitiful sophistry and that these snakes return as soon as possible to the abyss from which they emanate.
*The Battle for Stalingrad is widely perceived as the turning point in the European segment of the Second World War. After more than a years fighting in the city a German Army of hundreds of thousands surrendered to the Soviet forces after being cut off from supplies and running out of food and ammunition. People still like to tell the story of Napoleon’s Army in Russia being forced to eat their dead horses in the winter snow lest they starve.
In Stalingrad the situation was so desperate that the German soldiers were eating their dead comrades after they starved or froze to death.
Slowly starving to death, they resorted to slaughtering the 10,000 horses they had brought to the battle as a source of food. The Germans also had another problem to contend with, the cold, ill equipped for winter warfare as Hitler had arrogantly thought the battle would be over by the winter, the Germans now had to face temperatures of minus 30 degrees celsius (for comparison the temperature in your freezer is about minus 18 to 19 degrees celsius). Too weak to attempt the breakout that Hitler ordered too late, those who hadn’t been killed or starved, simply froze to death.
Therefore if Putin promised Erdogan “a new Stalingrad in Northern Syria as was reported he presumably meant more than simply sending Syria more and better weapons.
