Heavy casualties After Multiple Blasts Strike Istanbul Airport.

At least 36 people are dead and more than 100 injured following a series of explosions at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport.

The specific details of the attack remain unclear but it is claimed that at least two and possibly as many as four people wearing explosive vests or belts entered the International terminal and detonated their explosives.

One eyewitness stated that the suicide bombers tried to shoot their way past the airport security before detonating their devices.

“We came right to international departures and saw the man randomly shooting. He was just firing at anyone coming in front of him. He was wearing all black. His face was not masked. I was 50 metres away from him,” said Paul Roos, 77, a South African tourist on his way back to Cape Town with his wife.”

“We ducked behind a counter but I stood up and watched him. Two explosions went off shortly after one another. By that time he had stopped shooting,” Roos said.

“He turned around and started coming towards us. He was holding his gun inside his jacket. He looked around anxiously to see if anyone was going to stop him and then went down the escalator … We heard some more gunfire and then another explosion, and then it was over.” (Source)

A Crowded Roster of Enemies.

Turkey has been targeted numerous times over the past twelve months by a variety of groups including those purporting to represent Kurdish separatists and the Islamic State group. So far this year Istanbul has been targeted by two major bomb attacks with ISIS claiming the January attack on the Sultanahmet tourist district that killed largely German tourists and the jihadists also being blamed for the March attack that left at least 5 dead after a bomber blew himself up in an Istanbul street.

There has not been any claim of responsibility for the latest attack.but it seems inevitable that ISIS will be blamed and given that this was a highly effective attack on the Turkish economy in the middle of the Northern Hemisphere tourist season and the fact that the group have been largely abandoned by their Turkish sponsors in recent times, they or a like-minded group were probably responsible.

The Turkish state has also been involved in a small-scale war against Kurdish separatists since  Turkey renewed military operations against Kurdish groups folloewing the Suruc attack of July 2015 upon Kurdish youth activists.

The attack comes as the Turkish government have been working to repair recently damaged ties with Russia. Turkey’s economy has experienced a more than 80% reduction in Russian tourists following Turkey’s premeditated attack on A Russian warplane last November. The recent apology to Russia was intended to remedy this situation so the attack could not have come at a worse time for the Turkish government.

The footage immediately available of this event with the multiple ambulances, dead bodies and CCTV footage stands in stark contrast to what we have seen after the recent attack in Orlando and the Brussels airport attack.

  1. Appreciate the rapid response. Thanks. To read and view necessary sense, where madness and lies. Sift through any evidence censored by mainstream. “I hope that the Ataturk Airport attack, especially in Western countries [and] all over the world, will be a milestone for the joint fight against terrorist organizations, a turning point” Erdogan said. With respect, why would it be, and what’s not happening on the ‘joint fight’ front? Milestone? Messaging by this statement, to who and for what? Destruction by way of – what and whom? Unaided Isis (presumably claiming) will get thrown on us, by those less well-informed/unwilling to admit the improbable motives, and track-record of outside manipulation. Assume, no hoax about it on this occasion, nevertheless the dodgy and downright deceptive list of previous ‘terrorist attacks’ will be trailed along in the midst. False-flags exposed are most likely realities to shock-wake masses out the slumber. ‘Orlando’ was… ‘the milestone’ with a number of mature and sturdy-type commentators breaking out the cloud of unknowing, or at least under-reporting on, and stating the facts. Blunt and blatant. Older folk, who you’d think would leave speculation to fringe-net, now add confirming outrage. The escalation in occurrence might lead to blurring the need to investigate ‘previous’? This week I heard a ‘Boston’ re-appraisal. Not at all lacking relevancy. Need the truths to become ever brighter with ongoing retrospective analysis. We need the criminals caught.

    • Many thanks for a great comment Mark. I think that recent developments such as the apology to Russia for the SU24 and pilot, show that Erdogan and the Turkish government have decided to refocus on the threat of an independent Kurdistan to Turkey and are rebuilding many bridges to strengthen their position regarding Kurdistan. You make some very important points regarding ongoing investigations of earlier events.

  3. This attack was clearly NOT aimed at maximum casualties: the two explosions caught on CCTV injured nobody, and it’s not even clear they were suicide bombs. Real suicide bombers explode themselves in the midst of a crowd, certainly not alone in hallway after everybody has run away. Same for the gunmen: in the footage we’ve been provided, they don’t shoot anybody.

Most likely explanation: this was a ‘warning’ addressed at Erdogan not to cooperate with Putin. Remember the attack has happened right during the current Turkish-Russian rapprochement. Thus, the attack was probably organized or commissioned by the US or NATO.

In this sense, it was a ‘false flag’ or proxy operation. It was NOT a genuine attack e.g. by Kurdish militia or ‘angry Daesh members’ who wanted to complain about lacking support. And it was certainly not commissioned by Erdogan himself (prior attacks may have been, to get pretense to attack the Kurds).

    • Thanks for that Sam. I saw one highly ineffective suicide attack or supposed suicide attack, the other bombing that was filmed did not seem to show whether people were there or not. I struggled to find a false flag motive here whereas in previous cases it has been quite obvious that sinister elements of the Turkish government were probably responsible, this and the Sultanahmet/Blue Mosque attack of January are much harder to read. The scenario you have presented regarding NATO is probably the best theory that I have heard and it may well be correct. Thanks for commenting.

    • It is possible the event was a hoax but the weight of evidence indicates otherwise. Dead bodies, ambulances and grieving relatives so if this was a hoax the Turkish Government are far more adept than the US government at creating an event. As far as the airport re-opening goes, it does seem strange but my understanding is that the airport reopened but the area where the attacks occurred was still being examined and cleaned up long after that as thius quote seems to indicate. “I was in the airport this morning looking for my lost luggage,” he said. “They were sweeping up debris, and someone had hung up a big Turkish flag, pretty much right at the spot where (a) bomb had gone off” http://edition.cnn.com/2016/06/29/europe/turkey-istanbul-ataturk-airport-attack/
This quote also supports that hypothesis.
“Ataturk is Europe’s third-busiest airport and a major international transit hub. The airport has reopened for business, and debris was rapidly being tidied up. NPR’s Leila Fadel, whose plane arrived at Ataturk on Wednesday morning, described “workers cleaning up damage, passengers whizzing by shattered windows.”
      http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/06/29/483983313/death-toll-in-istanbul-airport-attack-rises-to-41
Either way if the area of the attack reopened that quickly this could indicate a deliberately botched investigation of a false flag attack just as easily as a hoax. People who are keen to promote the hoax meme never look at the evidence in it’s entirety, have you seen the grieving families? Do you think that Turkish crisis actors are a thousand times better than American ones or did perhaps people really die?

      • We will have to agree to disagree on this one v. But if you have any evidence that there was no attack in Istanbul please provide a link, I was wrong about the Paris massacre last November, I thought it was a real event and turned out to be wrong and the same may happen in this case but I am yet to see the evidence. Thanks for commenting.
