The Russian Parliament has approved the US of the Russian Air force against the IS group and other anti Government extremist fighters in Syria.

The Russian Air force will presumably begin to bomb the  IS within days.

Ivanov (Senior Russian Official) stressed that no ground operations are planned in Syria. Russia would use its warplanes to hit terrorist targets when requested by the Syrian government. He stressed that unlike the US-led coalition of countries that bombs militant troops in Syria, Russia was invited to do so by the legal authorities of Syria and thus follows international law.

“The military goal of the operation is strictly to provide air support for the [Syrian] government forces in their fight against Islamic State,” he said.

This was presumably the subject of the Obama Putin meeting at the UN and the previous military contacts between the US and Russia.

“The vote followed a request from Syria for military aid, senior Kremlin official Sergey Ivanov said.

Mr Ivanov ruled out the use of ground troops and said the step involved only the use of the air force.”

“The upper chamber of the Russian parliament has unanimously given a formal consent to President Putin to use the nation’s military in Syria to fight terrorism at a request from the Syrian President Bashar Assad.

“Consent was necessary for use of the country’s military for foreign combat missions under the Russian constitution.”

The request for use of force was sent by the president after considering the large number of citizens of Russia and neighboring countries, who went to join terrorist groups fighting in Syria, head of the presidential administration Sergey Ivanov told media. There are thousands of them, and Russia’s national security would be under threat, should they return home, he added.”

The Difference.

The year-long campaign of air strikes in Syria conducted by western powers have been highly ineffective.

There appear to be two reasons for this. One reason is that the efforts have been half-hearted and intermittent, with frequent apparent stand downs taking place.

The only parts of the US led campaign that have succeeded have been those in support of Kurdish YPG fighters in Northern Syria.

The Russian Air Force strikes are likely to be more effective because they are going to act in support of the ground forces of the Syrian Army. The unwillingness to offer direct support to Syrian Government ground forces meant that the Western campaign could only ever be ineffective and half-hearted and this may be the key difference that sees the Russian air strikes make a decisive difference on the Syrian battlefield.

The Northern Syrian No Fly Zone Project is Dead.

The most obvious and tangible result of what is now an undeniable Russian military operation in excess of the previous support for Syria and one obvious tangible result of this is that the Turkish plan to defacto seize a swathe of Syrian territory under the guise of imposing a “safe zone” is dead.

Turkey and U.S. Plan to Create Syria ‘Safe Zone’ Free of ISIS – The New York Times

The long envisaged plot to impose a No-Fly zone on Northern Syria, actually announced by Turkey in late July as part of the deal to allow the US to use the Incirlik Air Base for operations against the IS.but never fully embraced by the US is now gone.

This was how the Guardian reported the deal in late July

“Erdoğan did not simply roll over. He had his own tally of requirements when Obama called. Top of his list is the establishment of a designated buffer zone inside Syria – effectively a de facto no-fly zone protected by coalition and Turkish forces – which would provide a safe haven for refugees and deny crucial territory to the Syrian Kurds. Turkish reports suggest the US has quietly agreed to this, although no official announcement has been made.”

The fool Erdogan is never going to get his stealth annexation Northern safe zone.Instead he is stuck with a new Civil war against the PKK in South Eastern Turkey that has seen hundreds of Iraqi and Turkish Kurds slain in air strikes and hundreds of Turkish security forces slain along with dozens of civilians in retaliatory guerrilla attacks.

Report marks high death toll in Turkey’s struggle with PKK terrorism

The Turkish bombings have killed civilians according to Amnesty International.

“Evidence collected by Amnesty International in a fact-finding mission indicates that multiple Turkish government airstrikes killed eight residents and injured at least eight others – including a child – in a flagrantly unlawful attack on the village of Zergele, in the Kandil Mountains in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The airstrikes on 1 August were part of a military campaign launched by Turkey against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) but according to information gathered by Amnesty International these residents were not affiliated with the PKK. The organization is calling on the Turkish government to launch an independent, impartial and effective investigation into the airstrikes and to publicly release the findings of their investigation.

Plots that have been years in the making and involved literally millions of lies and multiple false flag terror attacks

have now come to nothing.

  1. You know, there is a scary aspect to this for me. It is the fact that Russia seems to have the moral high road in comparison to typical USA actions in the Mid East. Assad invited the Russians. Does not Assad have that right? I don’t see why not. In fact, in general, enslaved US citizens support war hawks, which puts them in questionable light, too. But many others in the US deplore much of what our nation does, while burying us in taxes to support it all.

But an even worse thought quickly ruins thru my mind. Just as Venice used to play one side against another to stay on top, could it be that the winners in this next big war, which I do believe inevitable, (if past history repeats itself, which it usually does), the winners might be those who cause the fall of the USA. And why the USA? It has a lot do do with our former wealth and worse, those miserable documents such as the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and the Bill of rights. The only right we have now is to remain silent or face a billy club, mace, or worse. If we fall, so do our documents and talk about rights.

Could that be planned outcome? I am beginning to wonder for it seems to me that Russia and China have been given the moral high road side in this matter. The manipulators often try to paint one side as saintly and the other as not. Of course, all nations are gangsters. There are no good guys. Tis a frustrating mess, for sure.

    • Thanks truth1now, there does appear to be a long term plot to destroy the US,and it has largely succeeded. Another great quote here “The only right we have now is to remain silent or face a billy club, mace, or worse. If we fall, so do our documents and talk about rights.” Undoubtedly all nation states are gangsters as you write but I think there is some difference in that not all the gangsters are intent on complete world domination. Thanks for comment.
